There's something in the water in Adelaide Adelaide may be the only major Australian city to so far be ignored by the big international luxury brands – in terms of their ongoing Australian retail rollout, at least – but it is rapidly becoming a key player in the Australian modelling scene. From to and a swag of other newcomers such as, Megan Irwin, Amelia Schubert and Tori Trigg, who were, there has been no shortage of modelling talent coming out of the ‘City of Churches’ of late. Let’s add to that list 16 year-old Brigitte Murphy, who walked into the offices of Adelaide’s 18 months ago.
After a year of development, this former Kangaroo Island farm girl, who moved to Adelaide five years ago, recently began doing a few local jobs. They include lookbooks for the Finders Keepers and Keepsake brands and a small “New Faces of 2013” feature. Expect to see many more new faces launching from Pride, which is just about to open a Melbourne office.
Murphy has just been signed to Sydney’s and during a recent trip to Sydney, met with magazines and photographers. At 5’8″, she is not as statuesque as some others. But charisma can trump height in modelling.
Just ask Kate Moss, who is 5’7″, or indeed Australia’s own Bambi Northwood-Blyth, who was also recently poached by IMG Models Australia.
